Non-Immigrant Visas for Visitors, Family and Students

Common Non-Immigrant Visas

B-1 / B-2 Visas:

B visas or visitor visas are intended for temporary visits to the United States for the purpose of conducting business or for pleasure. B visas are generally valid for up to six months. There are very strict requirements intended to prevent visa applicants from using the visitor visa for purposes other than temporary visits. Embassy or Consulate officers and the Custom Border Protection officers are generally very careful about approving the visa and allowing entry and will require evidence of non-immigrant intent.

K-1 Visas:

K-1 visas or fiancé visas are intended for a fiancé of American Citizens in order to allow entry for completion of the marriage. Minor children of a K-1 visa beneficiary may also enter under the K-2 visa category. In some circumstances a spouse may also utilize a K-1 visa.

F-1 Visas:

F-1 visas or student visas are intended for students coming the United States to attend an approved school under the SEVIS program. There are very strict requirements for student visas and they are typically administered by only approved schools in the United States.

U-Visas:

U visas are intended for victims and witnesses of certain criminal activity in the United States who have or are cooperating with law enforcement or prosecutors.
